Rhetorical situation: Many people around the world knows about the child labor issue that occurs, but do they really understand what it is and the affect it has on the kids working? This genre is a glimpse of about the things that we take for grant.

Genre: The reason I want to make political cartoon was because it been use often to portrait a modern-day issue, primarily in newspaper or popular blogs

Audience: My political cartoon is trying to show people a negative view on child labor. The people can be child labor activists, someone who wants to understand the social issue through visualization, or someone who occasionally like reading political cartoons.

Purpose: The purpose is to show the audience the well-being lifestyle that we have that children in other countries don’t have. As shown in the political cartoon, where the mother demands to child to pick up his toys right away, that same second there would be a child in a different country getting beaten for not able to meet the supervisor’s insane amount of coal requirement in a short time. This will grab the audience attention, and possibly get them involved in the protesting against child labor

Medium: a mainstream newspaper

Stance: informative stance

Second Genre: Short Story

Rhetorical situation: There is thousand of children in other countries where the only option to survive is through child labor, it’s even worse if they lose parents unexpectedly. There was a need to explain these unspoken stories to the public.

Genre: The reason I want to make short story because I believe that you can engage with the audience with a short story.

Audience: My short story is also trying to show people a negative view on child labor. The audiences can be ex-child laborers, child activists, possibly concern parents who wants to know the condition of these child laborers or occasional readers.

Purpose: The purpose of the short story was to tell people of the unspoken stories of many children that haven’t lived to adulthood to tell.In fact, this short story was wrote around a true story my mother has seen when she was little girl in Bangladesh. This can also be a message to companies that has been found using child labor in their production factory.

Medium: a child activist’s social media post / blogs

Stance: informative stance
